The moving industry requires that all household good items be containerized (boxes) to prevent damages during your relocation.  Global Moving Systems, Inc. will provide free carton delivery prior to your move with us.  Any items not packed on moving day that need to be packed will be done so at additional expense.  Global Moving Systems, Inc. offers expert packing for the entire job or just for specific items.  We will pack anything that you prefer not to pack yourself, and will pack as much or as little as needed.  Your larger items will be professionally wrapped in furniture pads at no additional charge.

Boxes and packing materials

In order to properly protect your items from any damage during a move, it is important to use appropriate packing materials.

The following is a list of some of the materials to give you an idea of box sizes, etc:

• Dishpack - 5.2 cu.ft. extra thick walls to protect your dishes, vases, and china and glassware with individual compartments.

• Book Box - 1.5 cu.ft. small cartons designed for books, tapes, CDs (Please do not pack things like books in large boxes.  Even a small box of books can be very heavy.)
• Legal Tote - 2.3 cu.ft.
• Medium Box - 3.1 cu.ft. for non-fragile and mildly-heavy items such as cookware, linens, folded clothes, and toys
• Large Box - 4.5 cu.ft. for light items like comforters and lamp shades
• Extra Large Box - 6.1 cu.ft. very light items such as pillows and comforters
• Wardrobe Box - holds approximately 15 coats, equipped with a bar on which to hang clothing
• Small Picture Box - 24x36" narrow box shaped to accommodate pictures, mirrors, and other flat items
• Large Picture Box - 33x40" larger-sized picture box
• White Paper - 25 lbs.
• Mattress Cover - available in assorted sizes to protect your mattress
• Tape - plastic tape used to seal cartons
• Avoid using newspapers as wrapping materials, as the newspaper ink rubs off and can be extremely difficult to remove from your items.
• Tissue paper - used in layers to protect delicate items
• Bubble wrap - an effective cushioning material
• Styrofoam peanuts - used to fill boxes holding fragile items
• Ziploc bags - good for holding small items from drawers, and items that may spill such as shampoo bottles

Do label your boxes and bags with clear descriptions so that you can easily find your items when it comes time for you to unpack. 

Advisable information to have on your labels:

• the name of the person the items belong to
• the room the item came from and/or the room it's intended to move into
• a list of the items
