What is a Local Move?

A local move is a move from city to city within a state or in a 100-mile radius from your present location. In order to determine the distance of your move you can provide us with your origin and destination zip codes and your Personal Relocation Coordinator will calculate the distance using our state of the art computerized system.

You may also use Map Quest Web Site:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?bCTsettings=1

Enter both addresses (origin and destination) and hit the "Get Directions" button to see the mileage between the two addresses.

Local Moves are usually charged by the hour based on the number of professional movers and trucks. In addition, there may be more factors which can effect your cost such as: Packing, Storage, Pickup/delivery from and to multiple locations and more.

The move starts at the time our team begins the move at the origin and ends with the completion of the unloading, delivering and reassembling all of your shipment at the destination.

How can I estimate the number of hours it will take to complete the move?

We recommend to be realistic and conservative when it comes to estimate your move time. There and many factors to consider in your estimate:

Size of your shipment - Usually based on the size of your apartment / house / office

Packing - Will you use our Professional Packing Service or will your shipment be packed and protected by you prior to the move date? (also see Packing section).

Do we need to disassemble items (before loading to the truck). These items will be also reassembled by our professional movers at the destination.

Are there Special Care Items such as: Piano, Big screen TV, Hot Tub, Heavy Art works, Exercise machines which needs special handling and extra protection?

High-rise apartment/office building or a high floor? - Availability of an elevator and accessibility for the loading truck to approach both origin and destination.

Distance between your Origin and Destination and Traffic conditions.

Please consult with your Personal Relocation Coordinator at Global Moving Systems, Inc. in order to come up with an appropriate time estimate for your move.
